Dryer Heating Element Kit for Whirlpool, Maytag, Kenmore Dryers

The 279838 dryer heating element is strung with a coiled wire made of a nickel and chrome alloy. The coiled wire on the heating element receives and resists a controlled electric dryer current, allowing the wire to heat up. The heat produced is then used to dry the clothes in your dryer.

The package includes: 1 x 3977767 Dryer Thermostat, 1 x 3392519 Dryer Thermal Fuse, 1 x 3387134 Dryer Thermostat, 1 x 3977393 Thermal Fuse, and 1 x 279838 dryer heating element with a jumper wire terminal and screws. The 279838 heating element is designed with heat-proof and abrasion-proof materials. If your dryer does not heat up, you should first check for a blown thermal fuse on the blower housing before replacing the heating element. In most cases, if the thermal fuse is defective, the heating element will also be damaged. You may need a wire connector to install the 279838 heating element.

The 279838 Ned4655ew1 Dryer Heating Element is rated at 5400 Watts, 240 Volts, and has two 5/16" male terminals. To verify if the 279838 element is needed, check for damage to the element or use a multimeter to measure the element for continuity. Replace the element if you find damage or measure infinite resistance.

The 279838 heating element is made of a nickel-chromium alloy, with the nickel-chromium content reaching 98%. This high-resistance alloy prevents the element from breaking and burning out. The 3392519 fuse replaces part numbers 80005, 694511, 3388651, ET401, G4AP0500, WP3392519VP, PS11741460, AP6008325, 2986, and EAP11741460.

The 3977393 Dryer Thermal Fuse turns off the heating component when the dryer overheats, ensuring a consistent level of heat at all times. It replaces part numbers 279816, 279816VP, 3399848, 2651, AP3094244, PS334299, and EAP334299.

The 3387134 Cycling Thermostat is a dryer cycling thermostat with an internal bias heater that monitors and regulates the temperature inside the dryer. It opens at 155°F and closes at 130°F. The 3387134 replaces part numbers WP3387134, 2011, 306910, 3387135, 3387139, ET187, WP3387134VP, 2893, AP6008270, PS11741405, and EAP11741405.

The 3977767 Dryer Thermostat acts as a safety mechanism to keep the dryer from overheating. Once the dryer temperature reaches 221 degrees Fahrenheit, this piece will shut down power to the heating element until the temperature drops by 80 degrees Fahrenheit. It has one 1/4" male terminal, one 1/4" female terminal, and one 3/16" male terminal.

The jumper wire terminal and screws are used if your old high-limit thermostat has one terminal that presses onto the heating element.
